What is an energy statement?
Almost entirely used for planning applications to outline a development’s intentions to align with local, regional and national planning policies.
Why is it different from an energy strategy?
An energy statement is very similar to a strategy, however, a statement tends not to pursue all the energy and thermal modelling calculations a detailed strategy would contain. It is a report that outlines what the building will be doing to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions as far as possible, an energy strategy-lite as it were.
Who would want a statement then?
Planners and local boroughs, however, they tend to be required for more rural and smaller towns that have less onerous planning requirements.
