HEA 02: Post Construction Air Quality and VOC Emissions Testing
"To recognise and encourage a healthy internal environment through the specification and installation of appropriate ventilation, equipment and finishes."
UK Refurbishment and Fit-out 2014:
- Health & Wellbeing 02: Volatile organic compound (VOC) emission levels (products) – 1 credit.
- Health & Wellbeing 02: Volatile organic compound (VOC) emission levels (post construction) – 1 credit.
UK New Construction 2018:
- Health & Wellbeing 02: Emissions from construction products – 2 credits.
- Health & Wellbeing 02: Post-construction indoor air quality measurement – 1 credit.
Aim and Benefits:
The quality of the indoor environment is widely known to impact the health of the inhabitants. A large contributor to that are products used internally such as paints, varnishes and finishes in general which all emit VOC emissions. A BREEAM compliant building will reduce these levels as far as possible to ensure inhabitants have the maximum possible healthy working environment.
